Libraries were used as a place where books were stored on chained closed shelves in the past, but in the 21st century,
due to many developments, the wishes and needs of users are prioritised; in this regard, it has turned into complex
structures where spaces with different functions coexist. In 21st century libraries, besides storing, producing and sharing
information, people also benefit physically, socially and culturally. In the book, it´s aimed to discuss the libraries built in
the 21st century through architectural issues determined in response to changing and differentiating understandings. In
this context, the change and development of library buildings from the early ages to the present day has been examined
based on addressing the literature and the design approach of the last century. It is expected that this book will contribute
to the field of architecture in terms of library design, guide designers and form a basis for ideas on the design of libraries of
the future.
